When Ryanair says "Your session has been locked"

For some reason, Ryanair's site screws up every once in a while when booking a flight and it will only show you a page saying "Your session has been locked", "if not redirected in 10 seconds click here" -- but obviously that doesn't work and you're stuck.

In order to start a new session, you need to remove the cookie ASP.NET_SessionId. If you don't know how to do this, here's the step by step with Firefox:
  1. While on the "Your session has been locked" page, right click anywhere in the page and select "View Page Info"

  2. Go to the "Security" tab and click the button "View Cookies"

  3. You'll see a list with a few elements. Click on the line that has ASP.NET_SessionId in the "Cookie Name" column

  4. Click "Remove Cookie"


Alternatively you can try to restart your browser.

This doesn't work for me in IE8, but another option is to use InPrivate. That does work because it does not use cookies.

Yeah but you shouldn't be using IE8 anyway. Get a proper browser :)
And in order to make a reservation I wouldn't be surprised if cookies were actually required.

If you get a 'session locked' message, check your emails to see whether Ryanair has accepted your booking.

Otherwise, you may clear your cookies, book a flight, and then discover your have made two bookings.

^^ listen to this poster. I just received this message, then an e-mail confirming my booking.

So in other words, this error message isn't necessarily an error messsage!

Be patient an wait for an e-mail.

If this can be useful to anyone, five days ago I got the "Your session has been blocked" screen after trying to book with Ryanair, no confirmation email followed. After repeating the procedure today (price went down in the meantime :), I got the same screen, but this time I have received a confirmation email.

And after two hours I got the confirmation of the first one. Now I book the flight twice! Does anyone know how can i get my money back???????????? I'd really appreciate any help! THANKS

I got this " Your session has been locked" in IE8. and i paid twice. first payment has been done night 01:30 second payment almost at the same time and i didnt got any conformation epost after that i tried firefox at around 14:00 kl it worked perfect for me. i got conformation E-post. if u did as i then dont remove the cookie from IE8. otherwise u will pay for the conformation u have done in IE8.

Thanks. Either remove all cookies in the browser history or use the secure surfing mode in google chrome since it doesn´t store cookies.

I cleared my cookies, refreshed and could book my flight. Price went up from EUR19 to EUR75! Bastards!

If this happens try using mozilla firefox or internet explorer instead of google chrome for example. This worked for me. Hope this helps
